IODE Canada, on behalf of its members, established an award to recognize a member, unit or detachment of the RCMP for exemplary public service to their community outside of their official duties. Each year, the office of the Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police chooses the recipient. This award has been presented since 1992. |

Throughout the past 17 years, Corporal Charbachi has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the RCMP’s mission, vision and core values through his dedication to quality service and building partnerships in the community he serves. As a new officer, Corporal Charbachi actively promoted community policing practices at the detachment level and in the community. Having completed the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Program, he was able to engage the faculty, students and community members when he delivered the program in schools. He was also part of Teen Against Drunk Driving (TADD) and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) groups and assisted with the organization of these groups’ events, further promoting a positive RCMP-Community Partnership.
A long advocate for multi-culturalism and inclusion, Corporal Charbachi has delivered several presentations as part of the National Security Outreach program. He provided information session to the Multi-Cultural Association of the Greater Moncton Area, the Saint John Multi-Cultural Association and the Multi-Cultural Association of Fredericton on the national security mandate. He has also provided several Outreach sessions involving the recent arrival of Syrian Newcomers to the province of New Brunswick, most of them delivered in Arabic, ensuring cultural sensitivity, compassion and professionalism. These sessions created a great relationship within the Syrian community, calling Corporal Charbachi a great role model.
Corporal Charbachi completed his RCMP boating and ATV course and promotes safe communities as a volunteer patrolling the Saint John River and ATV trails. His work off duty has increased the visibility of the RCMP in the community and has served to enhance public safety.
Corporal Charbachi volunteers his time as a soccer coach, and referee as well as a Swim timer for his daughter’s swim team. He is active in his community in promoting youth and sports programs.
Corporal Charbachi is a genuinely compassionate person who loves to serve and protect Canadians.
On May 30th, as part of the 124th National Annual Meeting President Jane Cushing and Past National President Bonnie Rees representing National Citizenship Catherine Moore presented Corporal Antoine Charbachi with the RCMP Community Service Award for 2024. Also in attendance was The Honourable Antoinette Perry, Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island and representing RCMP Commissioner Michael Duheme was PEI RCMP Commanding Officer is Chief Superintendent Kevin Lewis.
Antoine continues to demonstrate an on-going commitment to excellence in the community, within the RCMP. He significantly contributes to the quality of life for all. The members of The National Chapter of Canada IODE, assembled for their 124th Annual Meeting, are honoured to present the 2024 IODE Canada RCMP Community Service Award to Corporal Antoine Charbachi.
