2008 IODE (RCMP) Community Relations Award Winner
Corporal Jeffrey A. Bodner
RCMP Corporal Jeffrey A. Bodner, Regimental #37772, “E” Division of the Lower Mainland Traffic Services, Port Mann, BC, was presented with The National Chapter of Canada IODE (RCMP) Police Community Relations Award at the 108th National Annual Dinner of IODE Canada, in St. Andrews by-the-Sea, New Brunswick.
Corporal Bodner has been a member of the RCMP for 26 years. Throughout his career, he has participated and assisted in numerous community functions and events, including coaching hockey and basketball and organizing Dance-A-Thons. An avid Scout Leader, Jeff helped establish the First Battleford Scout Troop and the First Mountain Park Scout Troop.
As an accomplished Elvis tribute artist, Jeff performs in concerts for charity and fund raising events, particularly those for children’s programs and causes. He has been instrumental in raising $15,000 to assist with leukemia and blood disorders research at the “Mountie Stomp” in the lower mainland, and raising $18,000 for the BC Children’s Hospital by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa. Through his involvement with service clubs and other charitable organizations, Jeff spends countless hours of his time off sharing his talent and contributing to the community.
IODE Canada was honoured to present this prestigious Award to Corporal Bodner in recognition of his exemplary public service to his community outside of his official duties. Accompanying the framed certificates, one for the recipient and one for the detachment office, was an IODE gift of $500 for him to use to further his community service.
IODE Canada is a national women's charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for deserving individuals, through education support, community service and citizenship programs.
