FIVE CANADIAN AUTHORS PLACED ON BOOK AWARD SHORT-LIST
The short-list for The National Chapter of Canada IODE Violet Downey Book Award, value $3,000, has been selected from among submitted books published in 2007. The Award is offered annually for the best young children’s English language book containing at least 500 words of text. The five Canadian authors short-listed for this Award are:
Eye of the Crow by Shane Peacock, Tundra Books
Schooled by Gordon Korman, Scholastic
Elijah of Buxtonby Christopher Curtis, Scholastic
Darkwing by Kenneth Oppel, Harper Collins
Rex Zero, King of Nothing by Tim Wynne-Jones, Groundwood
The winner will be announced at IODE Canada’s 108th Annual Meeting in St. Andrews by-the-Sea, New Brunswick on May 23, 2008.
