IODE Supports the Arts & Culture in Canada
Canada's National Ballet School
Since 1973, IODE Canada has recognized the excellence of students attending Canada’s elite National Ballet School. Dedicated to advancing the art of ballet, the National Ballet School develops dance professionals in a student-centred environment by weaving innovation and evolving practice with the finest teaching traditions.
Each year, awards are given to assist two talented students to fulfill their creative dream of dance.
The National Theatre School of Canada
Established in 1960 and located in Montreal, Quebec, The National Theatre School of Canada, a private, non-profit institution, offers training in acting, playwriting, directing, set and costume design, and technical production in both English and French.
IODE Canada has assisted students attending this school since 1986, and offers two awards annually to students training in the arts.
National Youth Orchestra
In the summer of 1960, Walter Susskind and Harman Haakman directed a pilot workshop for young musicians in Stratford, Ontario. Its success and the subsequent support of several Toronto business people led to the formation of the National Youth Orchestra Association in 1960, a federally chartered, non-profit organization devoted to the discovery and training of accomplished young Canadian musicians....more
