What inspired you to join IODE?
My Mother, Myrleen Fraser, was a member of IODE and I became her helper in many projects that the Chapter had at that time. She suggested that I did more work than some of the members, so maybe I should join the Chapter. So I did! I was Elected Standard Bearer at the next meeting and I remember dragging that flag and stand all over Edmonton on the street car!
What are some of the best memories you have as a Member of IODE?
Finishing a good money making project and then using that money to help someone in need.
Meeting members through out the province as I visited chapters. Meeting members from across Canada at National Annual Meetings.
Darleen regrets that her chapter may not be able to continue much longer.
"Our members range in age from 92 to 57 years old. The members at the younger end of the scale have full time jobs, so are not able to devote much time to fund raising projects."
